The Duwamish River has had a bridge at 14th Avenue South for many years. Recently, the old one was closed due to disrepair. The community of Southpark was devastated by being cut off to the industrial area on the other side of the Duwamish River. After a lot of politics the money was raised to build a new bridge. Today on my walk along the river, I came upon this lovely new bridge.

Not only was the bridge built but they carried out archeological digs to insure they were not disturbing old settlements. Around the bridge’s west side is a small park with signage explaining the history of Southpark, the bridge they built and what they found in their dig.
