Duwamish River Electrified

Got your attention!  This article is not about the river being live with electricity but rather about a City Light substation wedged between the river and freeway.  Remember how I stated I had to be inventive on my quest to get to the river bank?  This article not only will show you the massive wires and transformers but also how I got to the bank.

Looking towards the river I saw this bird sitting on a piling through the legs of a tall steel power tower.  Feather Moment is a blog I wrote about this bird and a Heron with a stray feather.

Getting around the Substation to see the Duwamish River bank was a bit of a challenge. I found others had blazed the way and there was a trail.  Check out how high up the water was in the river.  The tide was coming in and it had rained a lot the days prior to my visit down here.

It was all worth it – check out the view it yielded.
