Ever notice how crows are always up high on something posing?
What is posing? It can be defined to assume or hold a physical attitude. Or to assume a particular attitude or stance, especially with the hope of impressing others.
Not only are they making themselves known to the rest of the flock but they do provide a valuable service. They are watching out for predators. Guard crows are everywhere the flock is hanging out or they are the lone crow left to protect the home territory. Plus they are usually strutting their stuff proudly looking up and out over the world.
Here are a few more photos to demonstrate the point.
